NetLogic Announces CALEA Compliance Plan
Offers Trusted Third Party Services
St. Louis (January 24, 2007)
NetLogic, an ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider) and a leading provider of Quality of Service (QoS) Business-Class VoIP services, today announced that it would be fully compliant with CALEA requirements during the second quarter of 2007, in advance of the May 17, 2007 deadline. The announcement was made in conjunction with the Internet Telephony Conference & Expo-East, in Ft. Lauderdale.
CALEA, the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, was enacted into law by Congress on October 25, 1994. In August 2005, the FCC issued an order stating that CALEA also applied to facilities-based broadband Internet access providers and providers of interconnected voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) services. This order was clarified and affirmed by the FCC in May 2006.
“Initially we will meet CALEA-mandated obligations for our network between one IPBX system and another, and between IPBX systems and the public switched telephone network (PSTN) through our broadband connections,” said Mike Morey, president and CEO of NetLogic. “We will then be a trusted third party (TTP) in providing CALEA compliance within Asterisk based IPBX systems. Our solution allows us to offer CALEA compliance services to our current and future wholesale carrier customers and partners through unique software plug-ins on the IPBX servers.”
