Management Team

The Voxitas senior management team has a history of relevant experience in the telecommunications and Internet industries, and a solid track record of building and operating successful companies. Prior to starting Voxitas, individual members have been associated with NuVox, Brooks Fiber, Electric Lightwave, AT&T, and Primary Networks.

Michael Morey, President & CEO

Mr. Morey served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at NuVox, where during his 18 month tenure revenues increased from $58 million to $145 million. Prior to NuVox, Mr. Morey was employed with NewTERA as co-founder and President. In addition Mr. Morey served as VP with Electric Lightwave (CLEC) and as a Senior Sales Executive with AT&T.

Michael Gibson, Treasurer and CFO

Mr. Gibson served as Chief Financial Officer at NuVox from January 2001 to August 2002. During his tenure, he was directly involved in raising over $500 million in equity and debt, and in the negotiation and integration of the merger with another CLEC, more than doubling the company’s size. Mr. Gibson served as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of Brooks Fiber Properties from its inception through its IPO and subsequent successful sale to WorldCom in 1998.

Matt Siemens, VP Sales & Marketing

Most recently Mr. Siemens served as Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development for Security With Advanced Technology (SWAT). Matt led the road show presentations in the US and Europe for the company’s successful initial public offering in 2005, with SWAT becoming a NASDAQ traded company. 

Prior to SWAT, Matt focused on corporate development and fund raising for several telecommunications companies. He joined NuVox Communications, a telecommunications provider, as Executive Director of Business Development. Prior to NuVox, he served as Vice President of Product Marketing at Maple Optical Systems, an optical switch router company. He was a founder and served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at NewTERA, and was also associated with Electric Lightwave and NextGen Marketing.

John Thompson, Director of Network Services

John Thompson brings to Voxitas and Enterprise Services background to include former key positions at Conagra Foods, First Data Resources and Anheuser-Busch.
John worked for First Data Corporation which is the largest single credit card processing firm in the United States from 1995 to 1999. John’s primary role at First Data was to improve upon and Enterprise Level Backup Contingency Plan for Data Center Level Network Services. This was a complex undertaking including several Data Centers across the country, with scheduled monthly test that would establish live transactions on the “backup systems” to be run for 30 days per test.
From 1999 to 2003 John work with Conagra Foods to design and implement a state of the art Data Center which served as the World Headquarters for all business critical applications and services. During the project John was instrumental in the successful deployment of a Wide area Network comprising of over 1500 World Wide locations. 
Upon the completion of Conagra Foods Data Center build out John began to focus on similar large Network projects as a contractor in the St Louis area. John has worked with several large organizations heavily focused on Network upgrades to include the deployment of MPLS networks on both the Carrier provided and privately designed.

Jay Cox, Director of Operations

With more than 15 years experience in the operations of large Voice and Data Networks, Mr. Cox has led both Engineering and Operations departments at companies such as Ntelos, Virginia Broadband, CentricVoice. As a Certified Nextone Engineer and while serving on Boards of the Virginia Telecommunications Industry Association, Southwestern Regional Technology Council and Center for Innovative Technology, Mr. Cox has testified before the Virginia Corporation Commission and the Tennessee Regulatory Authority in regulatory matters relating to both Telecommunications and Natural Gas Service rate design.
